Project Overview:

Roots Academy approached me with a vision to modernize their online presence and streamline their educational offerings. They required a fully integrated website that not only showcased their academy but also provided robust functionalities for both students and staff. My task was to create a user-friendly, functional website that enhanced the academy’s ability to offer online learning and manage their day-to-day operations.

In addition, I worked closely with a digital team to design a system that enhances the teaching experience in university classrooms through interactive tools.

Key Features Implemented:

  1. Custom Website Design: I crafted a modern, responsive design that reflects the academy’s values and appeals to their student base. The website is optimized for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices, ensuring an accessible experience for all users.
  2. Learning Management System (LMS): A comprehensive LMS was implemented to allow Roots Academy to deliver courses online. This system provides students with the ability to enroll in courses, access learning materials, track their progress, and engage in discussions with instructors.
  3. Map Functionalities: I integrated an interactive map feature to help students and visitors easily locate Roots Academy’s campuses. This feature includes custom markers, location information, and route planning to improve accessibility.
  4. Google Workspace Integration: To enhance team collaboration, I set up Google Workspace, including email accounts under the academy’s domain. This allows the staff to manage communication efficiently and share resources across the team.
  5. Interactive Classroom System for Universities: Working with a talented digital team, I helped develop a system that allows university instructors to engage students interactively during class. This system includes:
    • Questionnaire System: Instructors can create and share questions with students during class.
    • QR Code Functionality: Students can easily access the questionnaire by scanning a QR code displayed by the instructor.
    • Live Feedback: Students submit their answers directly from their phones, and the instructor can review and display the results on-screen in real-time.
    • Class Engagement: This system ensures that the class remains focused, as the instructor can pause and review answers to engage with the material more effectively, fostering a more interactive learning environment.
  6. Course Registration and Management: I developed a course registration system that allows students to sign up for classes with ease. The system includes automatic notifications, payment integration, and class management tools for the academy’s administrative team.
  7. Team Management and Communication: Along with the Google Workspace setup, I created a structured team management system that enables administrators to assign tasks, track progress, and collaborate seamlessly within the academy.

Challenges and Solutions:

  • Customizing the LMS: Roots Academy required specific customizations in their LMS, including grading systems, certification, and discussion boards. I worked closely with their team to tailor the system according to their needs.
  • Integrating Interactive Classroom Tools: Collaborating with a digital team, we developed and tested the QR code-based questionnaire system to ensure it worked seamlessly in a university setting, engaging students and enhancing classroom focus.

Outcome:

With these enhancements, Roots Academy now has a dynamic, engaging online platform that simplifies their teaching processes and improves operational efficiency. The interactive classroom system we developed for university settings has allowed instructors to create a more engaging, focused learning environment. The website has seen a significant increase in user engagement, and the academy now offers seamless online education to a broader audience.
